My Answer
One of the benefits of a design thinking approach would be deeper understanding of the human beings by empathizing.
The other would be a practical solution led by an iterative process of 5 phases: empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test.
I’m working on a project to reduce the food loss (actually started thanks to the assignment of the user interview in IDF course, “User Research – Methods and Best Practices”! )
While conducting the interviews, I found that many participants feel the conflict in finding the balance between their intention to choose better foods for sustainable/responsible consumption and their own budget.
Also they mentioned that they haven’t been aware of their own ideas and criteria for shopping before being asked in the interview.
Thus, a design thinking approach is helpful to understand what people really think, feel, value etc.
I’m still in the process of defining and ideating but I do believe that the following iterative stages would be fun and useful to create practical solutions, since it’s very experimental and we can test how it works then try other possible solutions again and again.
