Don’t panic just yet.
Take this opportunity to take a deep breath. Pause for a while. How did you feel when you realized you were offline? What does it say about us when we get so attached to what we find online?
Yes, we know it’s ironic because the Interaction Design Foundation is, after all, an online platform. But sometimes taking a small pause (offline) to reflect can be rewarding.
Think, for instance, about our state of technology, where it’s possible to build an experience out of a technical error. Think about the details and deliberations that a designer has to dive into. Someone literally had to sit down and type this message! We find this weirdly uplifting—it makes technology more forgiving and human.
We apologize for linking your offline status back to design—as you can imagine, we love design. For now, we hope your internet issue is resolved and your device is ready to be back online.
